To research, investigate, explore and share knowledge on missing person cases in the UK. The end goal being that one day we can contribute to the finding of a missing person
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW IS MISSING MYSTERIES DIFFERENT TO OTHER ORGANISATIONS/CHARITIES
Missing Mysteries is purely voluntary. Most of our volunteers have full time jobs and dedicate their spare time to researching and investigating missing people in the UK. Although we kindly accept donations- we do not directly ask for it. Our focus is on sharing information and knowledge to hopefully one day piece together enough information to help find missing people.
We have found cases using the 'Missing People.org' charity website when covering cases. Missing People.org are the U.K's biggest charity in supporting missing people around the UK. Missing Mysteries one day hopes to achieve a similar presence in that we have the funds and ability to carry out searches, re-enactments and full documentary style videos to help cover the missing people's stories.
WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU DO?
Where to start? Each member of the team has either one role or a number of roles. We will either find a case that we wish to cover by using the 'Missing People.Org' website and look for cases older than 2 years. Once we agree on our next case, then the investigating and research begins. Hours and days are spent, looking into the details and any available information online, using articles, news clips, videos, local and national police documents and information. In some cases we liaise with the family/friends/concerned others to gather more information and pictures etc. Once information is gathered, a script is written containing as much information as possible. This helps set the precedent for the videos. The script is then recorded (usually by Stacey- the Founder) and annotated. This is then put to the editor, along with the written script, any pictures and videos gathered. The editor then spends time editing and producing the video ready for YouTube. Everything is produced according to detail. The video is then released (privately) in order to watch it on YouTube to check for errors/mistakes etc. Once happy, the video is released for the public to see and share.
IF I MAKE A DONATION, WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THE MONEY?
Missing Mysteries at present relies on the volunteers own time and finances. We are accepting donations and have created a pool of funds via paypal. The funds will be used to help with the overall running of missing mysteries with plans of turning missing mysteries into a national charity.
There are many things the donations will be used for. As Missing Mysteries has plans to start travelling the UK for footage, interviews and re-enactments. The donations will contribute to a number of factors. Fuel & car expenses (hopefully one day we will have a van!), equipment (recording & technical), uniforms (to help us become identifiable, professional) and safe, funding for posters and flyers for missing people cases, utilities costs (internet, electricity, personal liability insurance) and things like overnight stays when travelling afar. Every penny helps contribute to Missing Mysteries, which in turn helps those in the community that need our help.
CAN I TAKE PART?
We are always open to recieveing volunteer applications. At present, we are a small team of 4 members. We are always looking to expand as the more people together, the more help we can provide to those who need it.
